On August 25, the 26th Chengdu International Auto Show grandly opened. At the Polestar booth, Shen Ziyu, Chairman and CEO of Xingji Meizu Group, delivered a speech highlighting advancements in intelligence and announced that the Polestar 4 vehicle will upgrade to the Polestar OS smart cockpit system upon delivery at the end of this year.
Shen Ziyu believes that the development of new energy vehicles has entered the second half of its intelligence phase, with the concept of "software-defined vehicles" gaining increasing recognition among industry insiders. In this context, the cross-industry integration of consumer electronics and the automotive sector is an inevitable trend.
Since its establishment, Xingji Meizu Group has launched the new generation flagship smartphone, the Meizu 20 series, as well as the boundaryless ecosystem Flyme 10 and the Flyme Auto smart cockpit operating system, paving a new direction for the integration of consumer electronics and the automotive industry. Additionally, Xingji Meizu Group has been a pioneer in proposing the concept of "phone domain," which goes beyond the traditional five domains of vehicles (power domain, chassis domain, body domain, cabin domain, and autonomous driving domain) to create a "sixth domain." This allows smartphones to truly integrate into vehicles, empowering smart cars with the capabilities of consumer electronics.
Specifically, once a smartphone connects to a vehicle, it becomes an integral part of the car, continuously supplying new functionalities to the entire system. The Flyme Auto smart cockpit operating system enables seamless connectivity and boundaryless expansion between smartphones and car interiors. The smartphone provides computational support to the vehicle, with applications processing data on the phone and displaying it on the car's interface. Upgrading the smartphone effectively upgrades the car itself.
"I have said before that automotive manufacturers lacking smartphone software support will gradually fall behind," Shen Ziyu stated during his speech. "The curtain has been raised on the transformation and integration of the automotive industry, and we aim to be the frontrunners at the forefront of this movement."
On June 19 this year, XingJi Meizu Group and the global luxury pure electric high-performance car brand Polestar held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony, officially announcing the establishment of a new joint venture. XingJi Meizu Group holds 51% of the shares, while Polestar holds the remaining 49%. Both parties will collaborate on the development of Polestar OS and provide users with smart electric vehicles, smartphones, and other smart devices.
Following the establishment of the joint venture with Polestar, XingJi Meizu Group has invested its core capabilities into the new company, including Flyme Auto, Flyme software, semiconductor technology, supply chain management, and its core R&D team to support the development of Polestar OS.
Polestar OS is built on the foundation of Flyme Auto, integrating Polestar's signature orange theme, icons, and vehicle textures. It enables seamless connectivity between smartphones and car systems, allowing mobile apps to flow effortlessly to the car's large display without the need for installation or data usage. Additionally, the phone's network and camera hardware can be shared, empowering the vehicle with mobile computing power. This breakthrough overcomes hardware barriers, creating a simpler, more user-friendly, and boundless interconnected experience.
It is reported that this auto show marks the first showcase of the "Double Star" fusion between the XingJi Meizu Group and Polestar. During the event, Shen Ziyu revealed that in the future, Polestar OS will be the core capability of the joint venture. Polestar OS will empower electric vehicles and various smart terminals under the Polestar brand, providing users with a super collaborative and seamless connected experience for a better life.
